RECRUITMENT INTERNATIONAL: Will tsunamis of redundancies create a new wave of flexible workers?
As the furlough scheme comes to an end, the economy is bracing itself for record breaking job losses, but new opportunities are emerging in different parts of the labour market.
“In May, I predicted the UK was facing a tsunami of job losses when the furlough scheme ends, and the latest ONS figures suggest the wave is set to crash through the economy this autumn,” said James Reed, Chairman of REED, receives 40 million job applications a year. “The good news is that job opportunities are remerging. The unemployment rate has risen to 4.1% with 62,000 more people out of work – up 0.2% over the last three months.
